MEET REMY, FOUNDER OF ANDERSEN EDUCATION

Remy’s commitment to fostering students’ knowledge, executive functioning, and test-taking skills has consistently led to goal scores, admission to first-choice schools, and increased confidence for her students.  Her SHSAT students have been accepted to every specialized high school, including Stuyvesant and Bronx Science. Her ISEE and SSAT students often start at under the 50th percentile and finish in the 95th percentile, receiving admission to top New York City independent schools such as Trinity, Riverdale, and Horace Mann and elite boarding schools such as Exeter and Andover. Every year she has had students accepted to Hunter College High School, a school with a 7% acceptance rate. Her SAT students see an average of 200 points increase and her ACT students see an average of 4-6 points increase in their composite scores. Those preparing for the TACHS and HSPT regularly score in the 90+ percentile, receiving valuable merit scholarships for their scores. Her academic tutoring students see an increase in confidence immediately and an increase in grades with 4-6 weeks of consistent sessions. Similarly, her executive functioning coaching students report feeling calmer and happier, in addition to being more organized.

 

With a BA in Psychology and a specialization in social cognition and emotion from Columbia University, Remy regularly infuses neuroscience and sports psychology into her sessions to help students better retain information. She draws upon her 20+ years of experience as a professional actress to empathize with her students’ test anxiety and help them overcome it. 

 

Remy has been a professional tutor since 2013 and founded Andersen Education due to the high demand for her services. Andersen Education’s mission is to use our creative, engaging, and positive energy to guide students to not only improve their grades and test scores but also their confidence and outlook on academics. 

 

A proud life-long learner, Remy is an active National Test Prep Association member, attending Tutor Roundtables and Summits to stay up to date with the latest test prep research and news. She holds a certificate in pedagogy in The Hochman Method, an evidence-based expository writing method. She is also actively pursuing her executive functioning coaching certification from the Anti-Boring Learning Lab. 

 

In her free time, Remy can be found at a Broadway show or reading at the Long Island City waterfront with her husband and their French bulldog, Floyd.
